Check Planner (check-planner.com) is a planning tool that shows how each paycheck covers the bills due before the next one. This page says what we store, why, and who helps us run it. It is written from what the app actually does.
What we collect, and why
- Your account: your email address, and how you sign in (email and password, or Google). For a password account we store a scrambled form of the password (a hash), never the password itself. We use the email to sign you in and to send you account emails, such as the link that confirms your address or resets your password.
- Your pay settings: how often you are paid, one payday date, your take-home pay per check, your weekly living money (optional) and your time zone. The forecast is built from these.
- Your bills: the name, due day, amount, how often it repeats and any note you add. This includes bills you have deleted, until you delete your account.
- What you enter as the month goes by: amounts that cleared, which bills you marked paid, which paycheck you moved a bill to, a different income for a single check, and the cash on hand you type in (and when you typed it).
- Messages you send us: if you use the Contact page, we receive your email address, the topic and your message by email. We do not store contact messages in the app's database.
- Technical records: like any website, the server and our error reports see things such as your IP address and the pages you request. We use them to keep the service running and to fix errors.
We use your data to run Check Planner for you. We do not use it for advertising and we do not build profiles.
No bank connection
Check Planner does not connect to your bank or any financial account. It only knows what you type in. Nothing reads your accounts.
Who handles data for us
- Our server host: the virtual private server that runs the app and holds the database.
- Resend: sends the emails the app sends, such as confirmation and password reset links. It sees the recipient address and the message.
- Google: if you choose to sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and whether it is verified. We do not get your Google password and we do not read anything else in your Google account.
- Sentry: receives error reports when something breaks, so we can fix it. We turn Sentry's collection of personal data off, so reports carry no user identity, IP address or cookies. They can still include the page address and technical details of the error.
- Umami: counts visits to the site, and whether a visit ends in a sign-up or a sign-in. It uses no cookies and keeps no personal data such as your name or email address.
- Email forwarding: messages sent to our contact address are forwarded to the owner's own inbox.
We never sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, one that protects forms from forgery (anti-forgery), and short-lived ones that carry a one-time message to the next page or finish a Google sign-in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and all your data at any time from the bottom of the Settings page. It removes your account, sign-in details, pay settings, bills (including deleted ones), paid amounts, income changes and cash on hand from the live database at once. We keep no copy in the app. If you cannot sign in, ask us through the Contact page and we will delete it for you.
Questions
Use the Contact page. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top.
